Getting back to work is the very part of recovery for any person suffering from mental health problems. Parivartan has put in systematic efforts to develop a range of work options for patients suffering from mental health problems especially with those who have persistent disabilities.The range of options we offer to patients include:
- Collective work options at the day centre
- Home-based work options
- Support for finding individual jobs
- Support to sustain jobs
- Enabling access to banking and financial instruments
- Enabling access to welfare rights like Aadhaar cards and disability benefits
Our collective of patients and caregivers run two food joints. Mind Café in Tezpur town of Assam and Kimaya canteen in the Satara district of Maharashtra.We have a team of twelve peer and caregiver workers who manage the day to day operations of these ventures. The income generated through the enterprise is shared between the peer and caregiver collective.
The day activity centre run by Parivartan also offers a range of income generation options for patients with a persistent psycho-social disability. It included making paper bags, imitation jewellery, greeting cards and festive seasonal products like Diya making.The day facility for patients provides following services:
- Information about Illness management skills
- Adult literacy training and Social skills training
- Vocational skills training
- Stigma reduction intervention
- Home-based interventions and family counselling and support
